Hunter/Firearms Safety Courses

2017 Firearm Safety Courses

The Canadian Firearms Safety courses are a requirement for anyone who wishes to obtain their federal firearms license.

In Canada, there are two levels of licensing you may take the test and apply for, depending on the type of firearm you wish to possess:

  • P A L (Possession Acquisition License) - "Non-Restricted" (most rifles)
  • R P A L (Restricted Possession Acquisition License) - "Restricted" (most handguns)


Hunter Safety / PAL

Provincial law requires all hunters to have safety training. The student must be at least 12 years old prior to the class start date.

At completion, you will have tested for the provincial hunter safety certificate and the federal non-restricted firearm license (PAL).

Fee - $150
Location - Wildlife Federation
Class - 20 students
Books - Supplied at class
Register - In person, on-line or telephone
Cancellation - One week prior to start date

You must attend all classes in a session

RPAL Firearm Course

You must have a valid PAL to take the RPAL course.

Breaks are scheduled, but bring a lunch - there will not be time to leave the premises.

Cancellation - One week prior to start date

Summer Camps

Each summer the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation hosts summer camps at our clubhouse. Campers get a chance to enjoy the outdoors, learn some new skills, and develop friendships in a positive environment. Scholarships are available by application. Please call our office for more information.

Camp Scholarship Program

Every year, the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation sponsors children in their summer camps. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements and be accepted.

  • Be between the ages of 6 and 11 years, and attending elementary school in Saskatoon or the surrounding area.
  • Provide a short description of why he/she is deserving of the scholarship and what he/she hopes to gain from the camp experience.
